Summer is winding down, and soon, my kids will both be back in school. When I have a day off, I will REALLY have a day off. I'm looking forward to having a couple of hours strung together to work on my quilting and/or designing instead of a few minutes here and there. I'm hoping the extra time will inspire me to really get back to work.
I've been designing and publishing my patterns for ten years now. I've had some success, made some money, been published in a dozen different magazines, taught hundreds of classes, made lots of friends and enjoyed nearly every minute of it. I've been disappointed and taken advantage of, too, but for the most part it has been a wonderful experience.
But....I have had some new doors open up recently, opportunities I think I want to explore and see where they take me, so now I have to decide where my heart is. How do you know when the time is right to make a change?
Fortunately, if I decide to focus on something besides quilt designing I'll still be doing something creative and sewing related. I've got a lot to think about, I guess. If you've ever made a big change in your life I would love to hear about your experience.

Go for it!!! You only live once.
ReplyDeleteAll new endeavors contain risk, or it would be easy and everyone would be doing it. Creative people always are going out on limbs not only showing something new, but putting themselves (their creative) on view for the whole world to see and judge. Susan if you have a chance to do something different, give it a go, it's the only way to fully feel alive, by trying something 'different'. If this new thing doesn't quite work the way you want it to, you always can come back to what you know and also love. How will you ever know how far you can go unless you try?
